“The authentic self is soul made visible”
Sarah Ban Breathnach
Author Lisa Strømme about Katie :
Katie Alfheim’s work is all about the truth.
Central to her art is a fundamental authenticity that reflects life as we see and experience it.
Through painting, drawing and printmaking, she takes us to a calm space within us - a place that instantly sinks the shoulders and makes us feel relaxed. Whether it’s people and feelings or simply a moment in nature, Katie seeks to bring out the truth, capturing life as it happens, at its most natural and authentic.
This fundamental need for tranquility and repose is important to Katie, who decided to make art a career after years of dipping her toe in the water. Her creative process allows her to tap into the genuine reality of all things and return to her own true nature.
It is grounding. Refreshing. Real. Alive.
Katie’s work is classical, but occasionally verges on abstract or impressionist, with light being a crucial aspect of the composition and the medium by which the soul of her work is illuminated.
This desire to capture the beauty in her surroundings and present it to us as a pause in our chaotic world, is an underlying driving force in Katie’s work.
It’s all about seeing the beauty of everyday life.
